Tim Gallway's THE INNER GAME of TENNIS (1974) emphasized the mental and emotional significances of the game. Coach Scott now has added a new credence and perspective to these cornerstones of the game.

Highly recommended reading for tennis coaches, players and their parents. Over the past two decades tennis has rapidly evolved in areas of stroke technique, fitness training, diet, analytics and racquet and string technology. Randall's book addresses perhaps the last frontier and one of the most important for player development - mental strength and managing stress and one's emotions. Unfortunately we still regularly see players smashing racquets, yelling at their player's boxes, crying, looks of anguish and taking breaks for mental health. Players regularly say they just want to enjoy tennis and play happily. How to do that? Read Randy's book.

I was fortunate to work at the Golf Academy beside Randall's Tennis Academy in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and it was a joy to watch him coach. He carries a rare blend of confident humility and love-based intelligence. His gift is making complex ideas simple — transforming tennis from a mechanical process into a living art — and his students flourished because of it.
I often felt he should write a book, and now he has. On my second reading, I'm still discovering insights that resonate deeply and universally. The Inner Way of Tennis is a must-read for coaches and players seeking a more meaningful, mindful path to excellence — truly playing "from the Inside Out."
This book invites total presence: doing what you're doing, fully engaged, without judgment or attachment to outcome — the essence of The Zone. Thank you, Randy, for bringing these ideas to life in such an accessible and inspiring way.

Randy is a great friend of mine and I wanted to say this book on the inner game is fantastic. I've competed in sports my whole life and never quite reached my full potential due to crippling expectations, desires and judgments. This book is transformative and has helped me, and the players I coach. Give it a read and be better off in a big way!

I read Tim Gallwey's seminal book, "The Inner Game of Tennis" some years ago, and it still stands the test of time. The author of "The Inner Way of Tennis, Sport and Life" has taken Gallwey's framework to the next level. Written both anecdotally, and with a nod from history (Alan Watts to name just one...), Randall Scott has managed to bring a fresh perspective to the truly last frontier in the world, our brain and the inner psychology the folks like Joe Dispenza, Tony Robbins, and other giants in that realm have articulated... I highly recommend this read, as the author has crystallized the key points, and highlighted the trouble areas all of those in sport, business and life in general face every day... excellent read!

I'm delighted to read Randall's new book; he is the longtime tennis coach of my son Tintin. What makes this book especially meaningful is how it goes beyond tennis technique. It reflects a philosophy of growth, discipline, and balance — values that resonate deeply with Oriental wisdom, where character, patience, and inner strength matter as much as external results.
A thoughtful read for anyone who believes sports are not just about winning — but about becoming a better human being.

You not only taught Mark how to play tennis, you also impressed on him the importance of self control and concentration. We want to thank you because you never gave up, and you brought Mark to a very good international level of play considering he only started four years ago.

I was also delighted with your attention to details in preparation for our visit. You tailored a program to suit our needs and at the end of the four days' training, I could see the improvements in the girls. I am sold on the HOLISTIC and MENTAL aspects you teach as I myself am a strong believer of these two components.

Thank you for taking the time to teach these "Secrets" to me before practice every day. This has helped make me build confidence and, as a result, achieve better performances. I hope to continue to use these methods when starting my tennis scholarship this fall at the University of California Santa Barbara. Thanks for helping me achieve my dreams. All the best,

Dear Coach,
You took your time to answer all my questions and opened my eyes that without being challenged there is no improvement, and that tennis is not only about hitting the ball over the net to win a point, but to win a game you have to understand to play with creativity.

As a player I found Coach Randall took an interest in my life off the court as much as on the court. Coach Randall saw me as a person not just a player, which helped my performance on the court greatly. To me this puts Randall ahead of the other coaches in the region.
